Dutch psychologist on the benefits of reciting the Qur'an 6/16/2004 2:22:00 PM GMT courtesy of http://www.islamonline.com In a new study, Vander Hoven, a psychologist from The Netherlands, discovered the effect of reading the Qur'an and repeating the word Allah both on patients and on normal persons. The Dutch professor confirms his discovery with studies and research applied on many patients over a period of three years. Some of his patients were non-Muslims, others don't speak Arabic and were trained to pronounce the word "Allah" clearly; their result was great, specially on those who suffer from dejection and tension. Al-Watan, a Saudi daily has reported that the psychologist was quoted to say that Muslims who can read Arabic and who read the Qur'an regularly are enjoying a great chance of protecting themselves from psychological diseases. The psychologist explained how each letter in the word "Allah" affects the healing of psychological diseases....
BHMF visit Ground Zero in New York The Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum has returned from a very successful visit to New York where we represented the people of Brighton and Hove. 1- At the UN HQ, the BHMF took part in discussions on International Migration and Development. The BHMF helped to formulate a number of papers that were discussed at the full session of UN on 12th July. 2- The BHMF met with the team of Kings County District Attorney, Charles J. Hynes. Here we discussed matters that may benefit our community of Brighton and Hove. We looked at their impressive record on crime reduction and the role their own community has played in this. OUR FEELINGS ABOUT SOME OF THE ANTI-TERRORISM MEASURES As citizens of the United Kingdom, our group of Brighton & Hove Muslim Women alongside other peace and justice loving people of Britain, feel the need to communicate our view regarding some of the new anti-terrorism measures in the aftermath of the appalling London bombings of 7/7/2005. The British Muslim community as a whole has always been a law-abiding community. and all its endeavours to create a more just society have been entirely peaceful. We fear that recent events are being exploited by some sections in society to demonise legitimate Islamic and much fought for British values and beliefs, and subsequently lay the foundations of what could become an authoritarian police state.
