Dutch psychologist on the benefits of reciting the Qur'an 6/16/2004 2:22:00 PM GMT courtesy of http://www.islamonline.com In a new study, Vander Hoven, a psychologist from The Netherlands, discovered the effect of reading the Qur'an and repeating the word Allah both on patients and on normal persons. The Dutch professor confirms his discovery with studies and research applied on many patients over a period of three years. Some of his patients were non-Muslims, others don't speak Arabic and were trained to pronounce the word "Allah" clearly; their result was great, specially on those who suffer from dejection and tension. Al-Watan, a Saudi daily has reported that the psychologist was quoted to say that Muslims who can read Arabic and who read the Qur'an regularly are enjoying a great chance of protecting themselves from psychological diseases. The BHMF helped to formulate a number of papers that were discussed at the full session of UN on 12th July. 2- The BHMF met with the team of Kings County District Attorney, Charles J. Hynes. Here we discussed matters that may benefit our community of Brighton and Hove. We looked at their impressive record on crime reduction and the role their own community has played in this. Dalai Lama and Muslims meet to appeal for the common good. As a practicing Muslim woman, I have always had a lot of respect and admiration for anyone promoting peace and justice and more so for those who actually are a living example of peace and justice. The Dalai Lama is one of such people that I hold in high esteem and although he is not Muslim, we have many fundamental values and beliefs in common. It is no surprise then, that I was extremely happy to come across the article below which precisely brings to light the point I am trying to convey to you. Enjoy your reading. Peace be with you all H. on behalf of the BHMW SAN FRANCISCO - The Dalai Lama urged religious leaders Saturday 15th April to reach out to Muslims, saying Islam is a compassionate faith that has been unfairly maligned because of a few extremists. "Nowadays to some people the Muslim tradition appears more militant," the 70-year-old exiled monk said at a weekend conference, which aimed to bring Muslims and B...

DO WE REALLY KNOW THIS HUMAN BEING...? Muhammad The Prophet ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA confirms: “.... A mass of detail in the early sources show that he was an honest and upright man who had gained the respect and loyalty of others who were like-wise honest and upright men." (Vol. 12) Gibbon in 'The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire' 1823 The good sense of Muhammad despised the pomp of royalty. The Apostle of God submitted to the menial offices of the family; he kindled the fire; swept the floor; milked the ewes; and mended with his own hands his shoes and garments. Disdaining the penance and merit of a hermit, he observed without effort of vanity the abstemious diet of an Arab. Reverend Bosworth Smith in 'Muhammad and Muhammadanism,' London, 1874. "Head of the State as well as the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but he was Pope without the Pope's pretensions, and Caesar without the legions of Caesar, without a standing army, without a bodyguard, ...

The women in Muhammad's Heart!... The women Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was married to were given the respected title of "Mothers of the Believers" (may Allah be pleased with them) · Khadija The prophet’s first wife, whom he loved more than any of his later wives. 15 years his senior, she was his only wife for more than 20 years and no other woman compares to her in the Prophet’s life. Her death affected him greatly. A proof of how the noble Prophet loved and cherished her memory is to be found in what he said about Khadija many years after she had passed away : "… She believed in me when all others disbelieved; she held me truthful when others called me a liar; she sheltered me when others abandoned me; she comforted me when others shunned me; and Allah granted me children from her...” (reported by Aisha) · Aisha One can write books about the love of the Prophet (pbuh), and his later wife Aisha, she became the prophet’s wife 3 years after the death of Khadija 'Amr ...

OUR FEELINGS ABOUT SOME OF THE ANTI-TERRORISM MEASURES As citizens of the United Kingdom, our group of Brighton & Hove Muslim Women alongside other peace and justice loving people of Britain, feel the need to communicate our view regarding some of the new anti-terrorism measures in the aftermath of the appalling London bombings of 7/7/2005. The British Muslim community as a whole has always been a law-abiding community. and all its endeavours to create a more just society have been entirely peaceful. We fear that recent events are being exploited by some sections in society to demonise legitimate Islamic and much fought for British values and beliefs, and subsequently lay the foundations of what could become an authoritarian police state. If your history lessons have never captured your imagination we hope that the list below will refresh your memory. Those of you, reading this post and thinking that a drift towards authoritarianism is an exaggeration, we kindly ask you, to look ag...
