8 steps to full confidence

One of the attributes and names of God All Mighty i.e. Al-Llaah is "Al Wakeel". It means that Al-Llaah is both the essence of Trust and The ultimate Depositary for all our undertakings. It also indicates that as believers, we must come to consider Al Wakeel as the subtle and all wise agent handling all our affairs and thus in Him alone we put our full trust. "Tawak-kul" in Arabic is the term employed when clients puts their trust in an advocate or agent . 1ST LEVEL : Trust in Al-llaah by knowing Him - His Names and Attributes and trust the fact that everything in the heavens and earth is His possession. He (swt) is the Exalted Creator of all that exists. 2ND LEVEL : Believe with all your heart that what you ask Him for, you will receive; Al-llaah Has full power to grant it. 3RD LEVEL : Know that you should make full efforts of your own to obtain what you want and then rely fully upon Him; make du'aa and effort, i.e. your body makes ef...

A gem of a Dua

Image
It is a human trait to think or claim we are doing something right when actually we are causing harm. This trait is found at every level and in every sphere of life, be it personal/ego, family/relations, work/colleagues, social/other relationships, governmental/policies etc... Just think of the last time you were thinking you were being well founded in doing something in all fairness, only to realize sooner or later that what you had intended had become the source of much harm to yourself and/or to others? Well, Muslims, or rather people thinking and/or claiming to act in accordance with Islam, are human beings too with their strengths and weaknesses. The following short video is the commentary of a sign in the Quran (Aya) for Muslims to seek God's help against the effects of this negative human tendency. Let us make Dua i.e. ask Him too, the all Mighty & all Wise to guide us to the principal of "removal of harm BEFORE bringing of good" and to forgive o...

The gem of contentment

Image
Virtue of RiDaa Cure for a troubled heart and a community in crisis . In a serene courtyard of a madressah in Northern New Mexico, Abdal Hakim Murad sits down for an informal address on the topic of having peace and contentment with the decree of Allah. He reflects upon his experiences of the ummah over the years and describes how it became apparent that Muslims in modern times are neglecting this traditional virtue of riDaa. He further explains how the absence of contentment in one's life can lead to serious defects such as self-righteousness, anger and suspicion of others. The more widespread effects of such a void are lack of direction and unity at the collective level and a dented credibility on the world stage. This shrewd observation serves as a great ...

Amazing!

High and exalted is AIIah (subhan AIIah), our heart beats around 100,00 times a day! Our blood is on a 60,000-mile journey. Our eyes can distinguish up to one million colour surfaces and take in more information than the largest telescope known to man. Our lungs inhale over two million litres of air every day, without even thinking. They are large enough to cover a tennis court. Our hearing is so sensitive it can distinguish between hundreds of thousands of different sounds. Our sense of touch is more refined than any device ever created. Our brain is more complex than the most powerful computer and has over 100 billion nerve cells. We give birth to 100 billion red cells every day. When we touch something, we send a message to our brain at 124 mph. We have over 600 muscles. We exercise at least 30 muscles when we smile. We are about 70 percent water. We make one liter of saliva a day. Our nose is our personal air-conditioning system: It warms cold air, cools hot air and fi...

Wrong Time, wrong place?

Wrong time, wrong place? Think again. .. You might remember, the head of a company who survived 9/11 because his son started kindergarten. Another fellow was alive because it was His turn to bring donuts. One woman was late because her Alarm clock didn't go off in time. One was late because of being stuck on the NJ Turnpike Because of an auto accident. One of them Missed his bus. One spilled food on her clothes and had to take Time to change. One's Car wouldn't start. One couldn't Get a taxi. The one that struck me was the man Who put on a new pair of shoes that morning, Took the various means to get to work But before he got there, he developed a blister on his foot. He stopped at a drugstore to buy a Band-Aid. That is why he is alive today.. Now when I am Stuck in traffic , Miss an elevator, Turn back to answer a ringing telephone ... All the little things that annoy me. I think to myself, This is exactly where Allah wants ...

Joel Osteen on Pork eating

Image
Priest Joel Osteen talks about Pork Be it in the Torah, in the Gospel , or in the last edition of Monotheistic revelations, the Quran, as respectively & progressively revealed to Moises, Jesus and Muhammad, peace & blessings be upon all 3 messengers. Our Creator and Shaper warned us against eating the flesh of swine, i.e. pork/pig. Today, it is mainly the followers of the Torah and those of the Quran, namely the practicing Jews and Muslims who hold tight to a pork free diet by contrast with the majority of Christian traditions (not all of them!) who for more than a milenium & a half, have disregarded this dietary requirement What's more, at a time when swine flu has been officially declared a pandemic threatening millions accross the globe, and when in France the Pork Industry, in fear of a backlash on its profits, has forced the French Media to use the scientific acronym - 'H1N1' - rather than its ordinary name - "Grippe porc ine"- , to refer t...

Carrots, eggs and coffee

Carrots, Eggs, and Coffee A young woman went to her mother and told her about her life and how things were so hard for her. She did not know how she was going to make it and wanted to give up. She was tired of fighting and struggling. It seemed as one problem was solved, a new one arose. Her mother took her to the kitchen. She filled three pots with water and placed each on a high fire. Soon the pots came to boil. In the first she placed carrots, in the second she placed eggs, and in the last she placed ground coffee beans. She let them sit and boil; without saying a word. In about twenty minutes she turned off the burners. She fished the carrots out and placed them in a bowl. She pulled the eggs out and placed them in a bowl. Then she ladled the coffee out and placed it in a bowl.  Turning to her daughter, she asked, 'Tell me what you see.' 'Carrots, eggs, and coffee,' she replied. Her mother brought her closer and asked her to feel the carrots. She did an...

The 10/90 Principle

"O Allah, grant us beautiful patience and perseverance! Aameen" Make this duaa, read the following and it will change your life (at least the way you react to situations) inshaallaah. What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react. What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic. We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%. How? ……….By your reaction. You cannot control a red light. but you can control your reaction. Don't let people fool you; YOU can control how you react. Let's use an example. You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened. What happens next will be dete...
